TERMS OF SERVICE
LAST UPDATED 5 OCTOBER 20261. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Powercut website at powercutldn.co.uk, your Powercut account, and your attendance at Powercut events. "Powercut", "we" and "us" means the Powercut events team, trading as Powercut. You can contact us on Instagram at @POWERCUTEVENTS.
By creating an account, requesting a song, joining a guestlist, entering a competition or attending one of our events, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site or create an account.
2. WHO CAN USE POWERCUT
Powercut events are 18+ and are run for students and their guests at the universities we operate in (currently the University of Surrey and the University of Reading). You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or attend an event.
Valid photo ID will be required for entry to every event. Venues operate their own door policies and may refuse entry at their discretion. Powercut is not responsible for refused entry where ID is not provided, where the venue's entry conditions are not met, or where someone is visibly intoxicated or behaving in a way that puts others at risk.
3. YOUR ACCOUNT
To get exclusive access you create a Powercut account with your name, university and a UK mobile number, which we verify by text message. You must give accurate information and keep it up to date. One account per person. Accounts are personal to you and may not be transferred, sold or shared.
You are responsible for anything done through your account. If you think someone else has used your number to access your account, let us know straight away.
We may suspend or close an account at any time if we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, if the account was created with false information, or if it is being used to manipulate song requests, referrals or competitions.
4. TEXT MESSAGES AND EXCLUSIVE ACCESS
"Exclusive access" means we text you about upcoming Powercut events, early or discounted ticket links, private events and other Powercut news. When you sign up you choose whether to receive these messages, and you can stop them at any time at powercutldn.co.uk/opt-out. Verification codes and messages about something you have asked for (for example a guestlist confirmation) are not marketing and are sent regardless.
How we use your details is explained in our Privacy Policy.
5. TICKETS
Tickets for Powercut events are sold through third party ticketing platforms. Your purchase is a contract with that platform and the event's named promoter, and their terms and conditions, including their refund policy, apply to the purchase. Powercut links to those platforms from this site but does not itself process payments.
A ticket entitles the holder to entry subject to the venue's capacity, door policy and licensing conditions. Tickets are non-refundable except where the event is cancelled, materially changed or rescheduled, or where you have a right to a refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable law. Line-ups, set times, venues and start times may change.
Tickets must not be resold for profit, used for advertising or promotion, or bundled with any other product or service without our written permission. We and the ticketing platform may cancel tickets that have been resold in breach of this clause.
Where a ticketing platform supports it, we may offer a face value resale or transfer feature. Any such feature is subject to the platform's own terms.
6. SONG REQUESTS AND VOTES
Verified account holders can request songs for an upcoming event and vote on other people's requests. Requests and votes are a guide for our DJs and do not guarantee that a track will be played. We may remove requests or votes that are duplicated, offensive, off-brand, or that we believe come from automated or fake accounts.
Song request leaderboards are shown to verified account holders only. You may not scrape, copy or republish leaderboards or other content from the site.
7. REFERRALS AND COMPETITIONS
Your account comes with a personal referral link. Referrals are only counted when the person you refer completes sign-up and verifies their own number. Creating accounts for other people, using multiple numbers, or any other attempt to inflate referrals will result in those referrals being voided and may lead to your account being closed.
Competitions run by Powercut (for example TikTok competitions) have their own rules, which are published with the competition and form part of these Terms. Where there is a conflict, the competition rules take priority for that competition. Competitions are not open to Powercut team members or their immediate family.
8. CONTENT YOU SEND US
You may send us content through the site, for example song requests, confessions and competition entries. You confirm you have the right to send it, that it is not unlawful, defamatory, harassing or offensive, and that it does not identify another person without their agreement.
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit and publish that content in connection with Powercut, including on our website and social media. Anonymous confessions may be published without attribution. We may decline to publish or remove any content at our discretion.
9. PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING AT EVENTS
Photographers and videographers work at Powercut events. By attending, you accept that you may be photographed or filmed and that the resulting images and footage may be used by Powercut and our venue and promoter partners for event archives, social media and promotion, without payment to you.
If you would like a specific image of yourself taken down from our website or social media, contact us and we will remove it where reasonably possible.
10. BEHAVIOUR AT EVENTS
We want everyone to have a good night. Harassment, discrimination, violence, drug use or any behaviour that puts other guests, staff or the venue at risk will result in removal from the event without refund, and may result in a ban from future Powercut events and the venue.
Venue staff and security are responsible for safety on the night and their instructions must be followed.
11. OUR CONTENT
The Powercut name, logo, artwork, photography, video and website content belong to Powercut or our licensors. You may share links to the site and repost our social content with credit, but you may not otherwise copy, modify or use our content commercially without permission.
12. LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Subject to that, we are not liable for: loss or damage to personal property at events; refused entry or ejection in line with these Terms or the venue's policies; the acts or omissions of venues, ticketing platforms, promoters or other third parties; events being cancelled, changed or rescheduled for reasons outside our reasonable control; or any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms.
The website is provided as is. We try to keep it accurate and available but do not guarantee that it will be free of errors or interruptions.
13. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Material changes will be flagged on the site. Continuing to use your account after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
14. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
